Who Am I?

A Bangladeshi bridal ceremony (one of many that I went to).

Yup, still me… but who am I? And, how do I afford to travel?

I am mad for food and adventure. M’ Adventures is my blog about my adventures in food, travel, and storytelling. You can also listen, watch, read my stories on audio/podcasts and videos. Also on Anchor, Spotify (and other podcast platforms), YouTube: M’s Adventures, Instagram: M’s Adventures, and Facebook. Please subscribe or “follow me” for my newest adventures and to help me reach the monetization stage.

Here is a little about me. As a child, I lived in four countries on three continents, moving around the world thanks to my father’s job. As an adult, I have lived in seven different countries on three different continents. I move every few years. I am currently based in Adana, Turkiye.

One of my favorite places in Italy: the view from Fattoria La Tagliata in Positano.

When I started my blog in October 2011, I was not really sure what stories I would tell. While in Bangladesh, I tried 100 restaurants in Dhaka. In Colombia, my “100 challenge” was to try 100 fruits that I had never tried before. In Peru, my original goal was to try 500 types of potatoes (there are over 3,000 kinds) but instead I went to over 100 restaurants. My “hobbies” are collecting intangible and easily transportable experiences: Korean restaurant meals, massages, and quirky cultural trivia. Not necessarily in that order.

I did not set out to write anything useful but my blog has become a resource. Since then, it’s evolved (with requests from my readers) into a space where I write recommendations on restaurants, food, tourist sites, and activities, travel adventures, expat life, and whatever I feel like. My current passion is telling stories on my podcast.

The most frequent question I get is where to find Mexican food. Go to Mexico for good Mexican food.  En serio. Por favor.

How do I afford it? This is the million dollar question.

I have a day job that moves me from country to country… but, I do not write about it because it is not as interesting as writing about food and travel. So how do I afford to it? I choose to spend my money on food and travel. For example, some things are pricey like the aquaplane taxi in the Maldives which cost $350 for a 25-minute flight. But I spent my money on it. I do not own a car. I do not go out all the time. I do not travel all the time. That said, some of my tastes are cheap or free. I take hundreds of photos. They are free.

If you wonder what camera I use, I use an iphone 13 mini. For the first eight years, I used a Canon Rebel T3 and a camera phone, but now I use my iPhone 13 mini (from 2022) for video, audio, and photos. For writing and layout, I use a Mac desktop computer and a mechanical keyboard. Plus, I have quite a few microphones…
