Jute is one of the major commodities of Bangladesh. Jute is a grass that is harvested and turned into string and fabric (it is often on the bottom of carpets). Tarango is an NGO that teaches women how to make jute bags and then sells them. Just one more thing to buy in Bangladesh and feel good about. The jute is quite rough so the bags make good heavy duty grocery bags.
